well you can.... but it just won't work
The DM7025 has a different CPU (ATI Xilleon)

A search on MIPS and PPC didn't tell me anything,

you heard of an x86 computer? If not let me tell you that you probably sitting in front of one (Pentium P4 is a x86 cpu)
The REELbox uses a x86 cpu (AMD).... AppleMAC has a PowerPC cpu (PPC) and of course there are other cpus out there i.e. the ATI which runs the MIPS structure (same as NEC's EMMA2 found in some funny dual view pvr boxes made arround the corner from me)

It's not MIPS! It's am MIPSEL CPU. It's different as Mipsel CPU are use little endian byte addressing

But, the main difference would be in the Linux kernel then? Wouldn't it? It image itself shouldn't be that different from DM7020...
