DreamBox 7020 Modem/IP Problem HELP

My DB7020s have a problem with Modem / IP. My db7020s was working fine till couple days ago. I put this Factory image from this site using DreamUP http://www.dream-multimedia-tv.de/dm7020/index_eng.htm which I usually did before and didn’t have any problems. After flashing my DB I went to Setup / Expert Setup / Communication Setup and there I saw strange conf. on my DB.

For my IP I had 10.0.0.97
Netmask 255.0.0.0
Type LAN
Nameserver 127.0.0.1
Gateway 127.0.0.1

I try to communicate with my DB trough DreamBox Control Center and my router could not connect to my DB.
After that I try search option put that didn’t help.
I try insert manually IP like I usually did and before works fine – that didn’t work to make connections between my router and DB.
I hold arrow key down and turn power on and my DB came up immediately with 192.168.0.103.
I try to use that IP and put DreamBox Control Center and connect with my router that didn’t help.
I was trying to make connections putting that IP in IE that didn’t help.
I use HyperTerminal solution to se is inside DreamBox ok and there everything is ok My IP is 192.168.0.103 NETMASK 255.255.255.0

Then I look in my router and I saw that router light for that port is OFF didn’t make any connections with DB. I connect my other DB500 and router light went ON immodestly.
I Turn OFF my DB7020s and turn it ON again and inside my DB7020s usually where is modem there are read and yellow light they flash for a second and they went off . Before those 2 lights are always ON especially when you turn DB of and turn DB again you can se actually how they are making connection with router.

I think that my Modem is DEAD. Can you gave me some address or contact mail of some technician here in Canada who fixes DreamBox receivers or is there any tutorial and step by step how to replace modem on my DreamBox7020s ?

I also have had this problem with db. It works on my setup but when I take the db to my friends house it won't work.

after trying all I know, (replace cables, move db from magnetic sources, different images, ) I put a 4 port hub between the adsl router and the dreambox and it works.

Don't ask me how - I don't know - it just works. I removed the hub and make direct connection and it don't work

For 'it works' I mean I can get a share running over the net, or telnet to the box, but no FTP.

So, if anyone has a solution I would like to know. Updates for keys are a bit of a problem with no ftp.

Are you sure you're not using crossover cables. A hub will generally fix that for you( well most newish ones have auto crossover built in). Check the cables again.

Dear Chiorny,

To be more specific, could you pls reflect us the results of the following commands:

1- On your Dreambox, from telnet, run ifconfig eth0
2- Again on Dreambox, from telnet, run route
3- On your pc, from Command Prompt, run ipconfig

If you can copy the results and paste to the forum, may be we can help better.

nope - definitley not a crossover cable
I have 1 crossover cable that is marked so I don't confuse it.

btw - I have 3 db's and 1 TD and no problems with my network on any of these boxes. Trouble is when I take the box out of here to the other guy - that's when I get the problem, and when I bring it back here - magic - it works for everything including ftp.

mine does exactly the same thing. I plug my laptop into cat5 socket on wall and it works 100% - plug dreambox in and get same results as OP with DHCP ticked, if I manually put in IP dreambox doesnt light the light on router upstairs. Gemini Image in compact flash / official image in flash. router netgear DG834G.

Update - must be a software thing because when I boot with bottom button held in to force DHCP to find IP network works...strange...putting another image in flash through network now and its working, but once image in flash doesn't :-(

further update, network card in 7020 wont work, many years sterling service from 7000, upgrade at great expense to 7020 with 160gig drive, network (as original poster said) doesn't work -using any image but some worse than others.
Now I would expect support as I would say this was a product sold unfit for purpose but lots of guys having the same issue and the main supplier has a statement in bold red print on his website saying not to call him regarding support issues till after christmas, the same supplier who I have bought over 10 dreamboxes from.
in my opinion the 7020 in a pile of pooh and the support is worse - and I am a big mouthed gitt who will be shouting it from the rooftops

Hi,
I'm facing the same problem, using a Sphairon DSL modem-router (1 device with DHCP) and a Netgear FS605 hub. When I plug in the DM7020, the connection LEDs flash for a while and then remain dark forever.
Stopping the boot process by pressing the down-button will show a valid DHCP-IP no matter whether DHCP is selected by the dreambox communications menu.
There's no chance setting up IP manually - this configuration simply doesn't work.

At least I can connect it two other ways.

1. using a cross cable, connecting directly to PC and setting IPs manually. This way I can FTP between box and PC. I still didn't manage to connect the box to the internet though (the PC is still behind the hub- haven't tried without it yet).

2. connecting the box directly to the router (which has only 1 connector). Then I get internet access.

So after all I can download addons and make use of the box. It's just annoying plugging back and forth all the time.
