DM7020 network sollutions!

Dream Multimedia fixed the network problem in the new 7020 boxes by replacing two capacitors for two other ones with more capacity.

THX to Sat-Turner, who found this out on the Dream forum on which capacitors this deals...

It are the C5906 and C5907, two SMD capacitors nearby the ASIX chip.
Refering to the datasheet it are components who buffer the 3.3 volt for the transceiver and PLL. Refering to the datasheet they should have a value of 4u7 but the ones who DMM used in the past have a much to low value.

see more at http://www.asix.com.tw/FrootAttach/d...et/Ax88796.pdf
page 73, at the bottom, example capacitors to pin 91 (and 78)

PieterG tried this out in his own 7020 box by replacing the originals with an 4u4 version, 4u7 is the ideal value but even with an 2u2 the problems vanished.

He is getting now 4MB/s with a switch who before only gets 0.5MB/s.

If you have an "older" 7020 box and having network problems just contact your local dreambox dealer to solve this problem.

Re: DM7020 network sollutions!

For me... those Capacity are nothing to do with network, so pay attention when you are saying "the network solution"
It's only fixing some level voltage problem to the lnb

Bye

Sorry, but have you even looked at the datasheet before jumping to that conclusion...?

Since when do you connect your lnb to the ethernet port?

Just kidding.

The only function of the ASIX chip is ethernet, it has nothing to do with lnb.

What is 'older' ? what serial number ? are you a stand-up comedian ?
This is the most outrageous thing i have ever heard...IF such a thing was a fact there would have been an anouncement to the official site of the manufacturer (Dream Multimedia)
...who do you think you are , 7020 product manager ?
I think you are watching too much (sat) TV...

I was getting 600 kB also but the problem was solved with newer firmware
releases and now im geting from 2.5 to 3.3 MB/sec

Also without Dream Multimedia ordering so no 'dealer' will do anything
just because "Hemertje" says so or "Sat-tuner" or "Mad-Max" from any forum
