Re: DM7020 network sollutions!

Personally i will wait for an anouncement on the official site...as i wait for the solution to the 5620 network problem for over a year now ...
if i dont receive either then i will get rid of both boxes...

ooops by mistake i edited the post and removed much...
sorry zbee...but those guys told "we we will tell our dealers"
so they are Dreambox (if not emploees at least affiliates)

Re: DM7020 network sollutions!

well im not a dream employee etc...oh btw as a super mod i can check ips...and fyi...none that you have mentioned are dream employees...and most dealers will do the mods...word of advice keep the mudslingin going...because you are starting to become very very unwelcome...i happen to be an official beta tester for both dream and reel...and we are the ones that usualy find out the various bugs, and usualy do the hard stuff to fix em...i have a few dead boxes sittin here because of this..which is what we do...sometimes these types of fixes are found much later...but hey you seem to be well versed in being able to see things that dont exist.....may i suggest you ebay youre dreamboxes and get a "triple dragon"...i hear they have fantastic customer support

Re: DM7020 network sollutions!

I dont care because with the latest firmware i have the 2.8 MB both up and down so i guess i have no problem...
I wont even open up dreambox to look up the capacitors value
i just wonder why that guy soldered the 2 huge red 'eggs' instead of 2 SMD capacitors that if done right even the dealer wouldnt be able to know the difference...
i dont care if you like me here i will say my opinion...

Re: DM7020 network sollutions!

the truth is i edited my mistake
anyway i know many of you senior members are dreambox resellers too
Anyway im curious
The guy had 0.2 DB to PC transfer and now has 4.7
I have 2.8-3.3 (not stable)
Will I have 4.7 too ?
Because I had 0.6 but it was software problrm (and went to 2.8-3.3)
Should i go ahead with hardware mod ? (hypothetical ... i wont do it anyway...)

eventhough i am technically proficient enough to desolder the ASIX chip and solder it back (and it will work) just with a soldering gun and a razor...

PS i wont do it because im waiting my power supply (or something else)
to die within the 2 years (I hear a noise when switching from vertical to horizontal polarity channel from day 1) so i dont want the 'dealer' (reminds me of the guy
that deals cards...) to complain before he 'fixes' it

Re: DM7020 network sollutions!

The answer of mine to that question is timeout
The largest block that goes through is 7392 with 2msec response time.
7393 timeouts.

SO what:
I can ping my adsl modem/router with 54752 octets (response time 24 ms)
BUT not with 54753 (timeout)
Every machine has its limits ?
Also if i disable the "Enable network fix" under Advanced settings i can ping
the box with 26000 octets with 7ms delay (only then the download speed is
600-1200 kB/sec)...wtf...what they have done ?

Conclusion: fuck it...it just aint worth it...

General rule...if the people that built it dont know whats wrong with it then the damn thing is totaly fucked up...

PS excuse my language (I shouldnt be saying 'fuck' so much at my age but
this thing is a scandal...)

Do you really believe that they don't know it by now? I suppose that they just keep quiet until this "storm" is over.

Best regards,
Sat-Turner

Re: DM7020 network sollutions!

i dont know what short of company they are but if i was the engineer incharge of the design of the pcb responsible for the BOM assemblying and i made such a childish mistake to put the wrong value components, i would quit and go to the Alpes to milk cows (no responsibilities there, just RSI - repetitive strain injuries)

On the other hand having qualified as an engineer (almost - luckily...)
im happy to see that even if you do such a huge mistake no problem man
(like in Jamaica or Hawai - no stress) no anouncements , no correction just
log into a geek forum and post the errata (with a nickname like Sat-Tuner...)

You can keep the company car and the paycheck with many zeroes
And you cannot harm the 'reputation' of the product or brand name because it aint got a reputation for design exelency or quality...just for enabling easy stealing of intellectual properties and copyrights (you can call me cardsharing)

I've heard of the triple dragon but never heard of the company that makes it
Possible dragon tales there too
Humax only (along with a PC for cardsharing) or PC based solution that does
other things...NOW I know i wont make the same mistake again

P.S. I wont mess with it ... with software fix 2.5 MB downloading is enough...
Until i get rid of it at the right price

P.S. 2 (update) Gemini 2.4 gentlemen : upload 3.3 download 2.7 WITHOUT network fix...with network fix itt goes o 2.9 ... MUCH better than 2.5 but i don't know if the fact that 2.5 was in CF (I put 2.4 on flash) which is generally slower
So seems like software problem to me...
