Dreambox 5620 and Hard drive

Hello to all !

I am thinking of buying a Dreambox 5620.
Will it accomodate an hard drive as the 7000 does ?

Hi Arthur,

No the 5620 does not have HDD capability, however you can NFS mount a PC hard drive from the 5620.

Can I just throw in my 2 cents worth too !

Someone already asked me what xphiles reply meant.
The english translation is :
No, you cant fit a HD to the 5620
But, if you have a PC in the house it is possible to make the 5620 record video (or whateva else u wanna do with a HD) accross a network cable or wireless network to the PC's HD.

Is there any other drawbacks ?

Like lesser images for dm5620 than 7000 ?

greetings,

Treepid

No hdd and no usb on the 5x series and the LCD is also different. Less images at the moment, as the 5x hasnt been around as long at the 7x. Developers probably started with a 7x boxes and stuck with them, images are slowly being produced for the 5x. There is a tiger image which is at the moment exclusive to the 5x. TeamHydra are also supporting the 5x model. Hydra is developed more for OZ.

Unhappy

hey is there any tutorials for doing this for the 5620...I've searched every site. and there's nada on the dreambox side of set up. Like settings on the mount configuration? I have NFS on my pc running tried telneting the mount instructions but cant for the life of me get the dream to mount. I think I'm little confused as to what the mount directory settings should be.
Anyone's comments would be helpful.

Ash.
