Meaning of error display on db5620

Hi
Recently received a brand new db5620. however, i am unable to get a connection via dreamup or hyperterminal.

I have a null modem cable, soldered it myself, pins 2-->3,3-->2,5-->5. Used 2 different PCs, but still no connection.

The display on the 5620 is quite strange. It displays a single digit, but it does wild. Showing repeatedly, continously, one after the other, several numbers: 0,8,9,U....

The figures are not displayed clearly, more like broken numbers as it is a seven segment display,im sure you will get the picture.

I did a test with an LED. connected it to pin 3 and 5 of the null cable and connected to db. When I switch on the db, the LED flickers, which would mean that data is going out on the cable, I guess.

Can some of you suggest what could be the problem?
Thanks

If I switch the display cable (inside the db) with the red part of the cable pointing downloads, the display on the LED changes to "5600 boot".

still no serial communication though.

Can someone confirm how is the display cable connected inside the db?

did a serial ull cable test:
1.started hyperterminal
2.shorted pin 2,3 on one end of the null cable and connected the other to the PC

Every keyboard keystroke appeared on the hyperterminnal windows. It would seem that the cable is OK.

unfortunately dealer is not in mauritius.

Is there a program that works for flashing db in linux OS??
