dm500 idea!. using remote for pvr?

i have an idea for people who want to record on their p.c. hard drive using their remote but cant due to not having the record button on the remote which is needed for p.v.r.!
ive ordered a one for all remote and wont get it till tuesday so cant try until then but maybe someone else could give it a go and report back in the meantime. i will experiment and report back on tuesday if no one else has or rubbish's the idea altogether.
companies use the same codes in their remotes for different models of t.v. ,video etc. so hopefully if dreammedia use the same code in their remotes for their different box's, we should be able to program a one for all remote with code from a model which supports the recording button and if the dm500 recognises and accepts the signal from the remote we should be laughing! yes?
could this possibly work or do i stick to whittling wood with a pen knife and keep me mouth shut?

oops! ive just noticed the other thread where people are already experimenting with remote x.over.
ill get me pen knife, stick and me coat;o)
