DB500 dead please help ?

Hey there m8's !

After received mine db 500 i installed directly 7000s software on the exiting software.

After installing all is dead, cant comunicate with the db500 i used network cable and rs232 cable, but nothing is helping, i used dreamUp_DM500 software to all mine comunication try...but nothing is working

My question is, what can i do =? send the receiver back or can i fix it by my self ? please help, i bought 2 pieces of em, and both are not working.

no, this is no problem. you need a null modem cable connected from your dreambox to your pc. use dreamup and erase the flash with the erase button. after that is done, you can load a new firmware on. you know now that you cant use 7000 files, so use the sf or hydra images.

you may also have to deselect the box that says "use network" in dreamup so that the box only communicates via serial port, but maybe not.

p.s: you should always erase the flash before you load new firmware

First off all thanks for your reply, but as i mentioned i cant getting contact with a null model cable dreamup dont show anything about erasing or uploading a new img.... so thats my problem m8 ?

you crashed your dm 500 because it can´t work with soft dm7000!
don´t work anymore!

You can try HYPERTERMINAL (part of Windows).

Use 112.000 baud and turn on your Dreambox.

You should see DREAMBOX. If so, restart the Dreambox, but press the RETURN-Key (keep it pressed). You wil enter a boot-menue.

If that is OK, reboot your PC and just start DreamUp. It should work.

If you don't see anything using Hyperterminal, you destroyed your bootloader.

In this case, either send your Dreambox for repair, or use a CAS-II Interface to restore it. As the DM-500 does not have the pins for JTAG on board, you need a pinhead-connector, so it is not very recommended.

not sure if you can send it for repair because i hear that your warranty is void if you load any firmware on your db that is not official dream multimedia software. i feel for you

Its fixed, i moved the comports setting in xp to 9600 bit pr second, so all was OK , and i could communicate with my dreamboxes both of em... thanks for who tried to help me.
