Dbox2 Ozzy/Nz

Hi there..

Its good to see there is now a Dbox2 Thread started.

To kick things off:

1) How many Dbox2 users are there located in the Nz/Australian region ?.

2) What i would like to know is what is everyones general findings with What images/Information people have on the Dbox2.

3) What images do users find better etc..

4) As I and quite a few others know, information especially in the English language for the Dbox is at quite some shortage.
Is there any users out there that would be interested with sharing there experiences with the running of there Dbox2 ?.

I've had a Philips dBox 2 for sometime but have not yet got it going. I bought it before the Dreambox was released & have since bought a DM7000s.
My Dbox 2 has been modded & has Neutrino loaded. I until recently have not had a network card and have therefore only used Dreamup & null modem cable for my DM7000s.
I have to find some info in English on how to load new sat frequencies etc in Neutrino image on the DBOX 2. If & when I get it going, I'll post the results.

I will assist you if with the LAN stuff if you want , there are some basics that need to setup first .

Firstly the Dbox 2 is wanting to communicate at 10mb/s max only ! - not able to do upto 100mb/s , so in general , its advisable to use 10mb/s base T card . I do however have a 10-100 mb/s going at present , but this is forced via configuration in Windows to be limited to 10 ....otherwise the Bootmanager will not communicate to the Dbox 2 when you try to reflash a replacement image of your choice .

Secondly , you need to set IP address of your PC's LAN card ( of your choice ) to a standard address like 192.168.0.1 , Subnet 255.255.255.0 .
This allows you to set the dbox II IP address to anything in the range from 192.168.0.2......to ......192.168.0.254 if I remeber correctly .

Set the gateway address to the same as the PC's LAN card address say 192.168.0.1 .

Then with a copy of any Telnet , or FTP , HTTP , proggy , you should be able to access the dbox2 with the following LOGIN & PASSWORD >
login = root
PASS = dbox2

If all is setup correctly , then you can now access the dbox2 file system ( CRAMFs memory only ....not Flash memory )

That will do for now , see if you get this far , keep us posted .

I have a nokia , purchased third hand about 12 months ago.
been running 2xI_SBII-Final
and evo6.0 images . Both have their good and bad points .
I have never actually had a card work in it yet , to lasy to work out how to make it go,
GBox is just to easy .

Hi DBox gurus. Complete sat and dbox (potential purchaser) noob speaks. Does the DBox have the same limitations as the other boxes when it comes to I2 on suxtel and crapstar? PM me if need be with juicy details....
