Dreamview not running with Vista

I have installed Vista Home Premium and can not start Dreamview 0.1.5. Error message: "Comdlg32.ocx or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid."

Comdlg32.ocx is present in windows\system32
Registering the OCX with "regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\COMDLG32.OCX" results in error: "...COMDLG32.OCX was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x8002801c."

So it looks like I have to start getting the comdlg32.ocx installed correctly. Any suggestions?
- What other "dependencies" as mentioned in the first error message can be causing the problem?

Searching the net makes clear there are a lot of problems with Vista and ActiveX components like comdlg32.ocx . . . however not a lot of solutions

Re: Dreamview not running with Vista

Snappy,
Go here: http://usbhell.deephit.com/cgi-bin/dv.cgi
Download the OCX files and follow the readme..
Easy to do - and worked absolutely fine on my VISTA Ultimate.. :-)

Re: Dreamview not running with Vista

Skywave,
Thanks for your tip. However problem not solved. Same error message on registering the OCX files and dreamView keeps complaining about a missing COMDLG32.OCX.
Are you sure you have the same OCX files installed?

You could try searching for multiple copies of the offending file and deleting the ones not in the Windows System32 directory.

Re: Dreamview not running with Vista

The registration failed because of Vista . . . I had to start CMD.EXE explicitly as administrator (although I have admin rights). Doing this, all ocx files are installed successfully.

Dreamview is running now
. . . However I can't see anything . The sound is working and the screen is just filled with a kind of average color of the video transmission. So the screen is changing color related to the video signal and the sound is working. Looks like a codec is not working . . . this should be covered by VLC though.

Using web-x-tv (VLC based) gives the same results.

Any suggestions?

Re: Dreamview not running with Vista

Connections are ok. I noticed even that I do have video for a couple of seconds when I make a snapshot of the screen!!! As soon as the snapshot preview disappears, the video is gone as well.

I tried several setting under preferences/video but have not found a solution yet.
