Hi Guys,

Just came on to check "new-posts" and looked at the thread on those dream boxes and now I am getting pestered by pop-ups to download MacroMedia's Flash Player .....

Have you planted a link in there .....

N O I D O N O T it or any other pop ups ......

My appologies if it is not coming from Sat_Industry ... but i have no other anythings open .... lol .. Mind you I know these do occur during "mail reading time'

Looks like it has something to do with you trying to get banners to load quicker ... as I never had a loading probem before and now things are slower because I wont load "Flash" .... Heck guys .... I knows most puter nerds laod everthing, but I don't want to, in fact I am trying to get rid of stuff .... lol

When I was young it was fun to get a "load" but now I like it clean and simple .... lol

Hello Spass,

i do not get any pop-ups from this board, so i guess that you got them from the place you visited just before you came here.

or as you say self, you might have to configure the flash plug-in.

Flash is popping up from here .......

I DO NOT HAVE FLASH ........

I DO NOT WANT FLASH ........

I know this is a public site managed by the mods who do a good job and try to please every one with speedy efficient service.

B U T, I do not want pop-ups for plug-ins or add-ons or any other whzzzzz bang software that I do not choose to have on my pc .....

The Flash PopUps are coming from YOUR PC!
We are using Flash banners and if you are not using a flash compatible browser, your PC will come up demanding you to install it!
Nothing to do with the site here!
Guess you have KDE Konquerer as browser! Had the same prob with my other machine until I did in fact download the plugin!

Try it or surpress the message

Sorry if you feel we are alienating you Spass - we have been testing various banner delivery methods and compressed Flash seems to have the edge, though we are still exploring other avenues.
The vast majority of members here already have the Flash browser plug-in and to be honest if you don't have it you are probably missing out on the full capabilities of this animation method (I'm not talking about those ridiculous flash intros we all hate..)
Our goal is to have a site with plenty of bells and whistles but be reasonably fast at the same time. If we do settle on compressed flash then so be it, there are many more sites already using and many more to come. If you refuse to install a plug-in that comes standard with most modern browsers, then that is your decision, but you won't get to see all these sites have to offer.

If it's not your brower requiring a plugin, you may have installed an application (with or without your knowledge) that is causing the popups. There are a number of "spyware" programs around that will run without your consent.

There are a few options open to you such as installing software to detect and fix your problem, manually checking to see what applications are running in the background on your PC or even cleaning out your system and reinstalling everything from scratch.

The O/S install will work wonders. But only if you don't re-install the whole kit! Cause basicly you may end up installing the spyware again and your back where you started!

Spass, you will be pleased to hear that you don't need the Flash plug-in to browse the site any longer, hopefully what has been implemented will not slow the site down any.

Well the site is not any slower here! Thats definatly a good sign. Never know, it may be faster for myslef but then again i am having ISP probs atm. That won't be long, will check it out when ADSL goes in

Not a pop-up anywhere ...... and yes I know FLASh is good but, I am having probs with PC here and intend to do a B I G dump in a week or 2 .... Then when all is AOK ... I will probally put FLASh on ...... But in the mean time ..... ty
