Being spammed by LSD

Admin,

How did my email address get onto _--=[LSD]=--_ <Sales@LSD.NeT.Au> mailing list, a sat-industry site advertiser. I don't appreciate being spammed just because I am a member of this site, my email address is shown as "hidden" in my userCP options.

The only good thing to come out of the spam is that I know of another company to avoid dealing with.

At no time is your signup email address available to anyone except site administrators. Email contact via the board is disabled, we don't condone spam advertising and we certainly DO NOT give out anyones address.
Although we are sure that you didn't receive that email because you are a member here, we will certainly be persuing this further given that you are not the first to complain.

LSD do have a number of ways of obtaining email addresses, but as I said earlier, getting them through this site is not one of those (unless you put it in a post). If you are a previous customer of MMD satellites or you have posted/listed your email address on any of the satellite forums/newsgroups then you are probably on their email list.
We do not agree with LSDs aggressive methods of obtaining new customers particularly when it affects a large number of our members. Given that we have no say in how they conduct business we have decided to pull their advertising from the site.

I agree with you 100% here Rattus. The last thing we all need is more spam. I got spammed by these guys myself!

I am pretty sure unsolicited email is illegal in Australia. Our best bet is to make a formal complaint to their ISP.

Looking at the header information on the spam, the mail server they used is mail.uss.net.au. It appears that www.uss.net.au is their web host.

You can formally make a complaint to their web host at this email address:

sales@uss.net.au

I don't know if there is an organisation in Australia that you can report spam to. If anybody knows can they please post a link here?

They are only just looking into it....
