It may be a basic response, but you could try:
Positioning the boxes with the front panels 90 degrees front each other. And place a seperator between the two.
Then to change box 1, aim your remote to bounce off the nearest wall to box 1 to change that channel, and like wise with box 2.
Or purchase a remote extender kit (this sends the IR signals from a RX sensor to a seperate IR Transmitting LED), and place the transmitting LED of the extender kit directly infront of your 7000 remote sensor, and shield any outside IR with a black cloth of such.
Then place the IR receiver in a location that won't pick up your other boxes IR. ie: on the other side of the room, or at nearest wall to your favourite chair.
Therefore to control box 1, aim at boxes. And Box 2 aim at extender.
