Try using newcamd and be sure that in /var/tuxbox/config you have cardserv.cfg with (for upper slot in this example) EMMs enabled.

SERIAL_PORT = 0

EMM-G = yes
EMM-S = yes
EMM-U = yes
Then your card should update correctly.
