Hi - I'm not an expert but a crossover cable is for PC to dreambox(direct) and if your connecting via router or switch you need regular cat5e cable.

Once you have connected DreamBox to a PC then u need to goto expert settings/commuications (I think) and get ip address of the box.

root / Dreambox should be the default user and password to log in.

just type in the IP of the dreambox into explorer or firefox (eg 192.168.1.x) and if it asks for user and pass then you have succesfully connected to your box.
